With encouragement from family and friends, Jonathan practiced and honed his creative skills throughout his formative years. While drawing and painting were core passions, Animation, Architecture, and Design had always been a fascinations.
When entering College, Jonathan was able to combine his many creative interests by entering into a Bachelor’s of Science program in Media Arts & Animation.
With a focus on 3d Graphics and a curriculum of well rounded digital and traditional Fine Art studies such as Life Drawing, Sculpture, and Illustration course work, Jonathan worked tirelessly to turn his natural talent into a professional career in Animation and Design.
Graduating as a leader in his class with Best in Show in the Media Arts & Animation program, Jonathan was recruited with a local Las Vegas Retail Design firm his first week out of school.
Retail Design ended up being an excellent start to his professional career by combining elements of Architecture / Interior Design, Graphic / Web Design, Motion Graphics / Animation, and Branding / Marketing.
In the 2 Years Jonathan worked with Ayala’s inc. and Ayala’s CG, he had helped to design several Retail Store Concepts and E Commerce Websites, as well as, dozens of pieces of Merchandise, in store Signage/ Video, and Industrial elements such as display cases and cash wraps.
With this experience under his belt, Jonathan went on to work as an Animator, Designer, and Artist in collaboration with self-made web & tech serial start-up entrepreneur, Konrad Musial (creator of the powerful web design software Artisteer,) as well as, world renowned Cartoonist/ Artist Bryant Arnold (creator of www.cartoonaday.com,) to build an interactive stock art powerhouse, Interactive Stock – www.interactivestock.com
During his tenure working with Konrad and Bryant, Jonathan was given the time and freedom to develop his illustration and animation skills as the head of the Graphics Research and Development department for this tech startup.
While R&D and Illustration were definitely passions that Jonathan enjoyed developing, he was again called back to Architecture and Interior Design after being recruited by one of the top Hospitality Design firms in the world, Steelman Partners, as a 3d Artist and Architectural Animator.
As an indispensable and instrumental leader in the 3d Graphics and Animation Department, Jonathan was a team leader creating 3d Visualizations and Animations which were essential to the design and approval process on roughly one hundred mega projects such as Resorts World Las Vegas ($4 Billion), Naga World Cambodia ($200 Million), Galaxy Macau (Phase 2 $3 Billion), Jupiter Gold Coast Australia ($345 Million), Genting Highlands ($3.5-4 Billion) to name a few.
Working closely with notable designers and architects such as Michael Arias, Nicole Dalton, Afsheen Rais, and even Paul Steelman himself, Jonathan flourished at Steelman Partners, and in the Architecture and Interior Design industry, quickly becoming an international 3d Visualization leader, capable of Photo-Realistic modeling/ rendering and developing his own, unique creative blueprint along the way.
Although Steelman Partners grew to be a creative home for Jonathan, after living in Las Vegas on and off for nearly 27 years, he felt that it was time to experience more of what the world had to offer. In what was a very brief search for his next creative adventure, Jonathan was quickly recruited by Charles Doell, Founder and Principle of Mister Important Design, a relatively new but paradigm shifting force in the Hospitality Design market.
Based out of Oakland, California, a Bay Area tech and design hub, Mister Important Design is internationally a leading Interior Design firm of 2016. MID is currently a finalist in several prestigious Architecture and Interior Design Awards Competitions, in particular, as a finalist in 3 Categories including best Hotel Design in the Gold Key Awards for Hospitality Design Excellence, as well as, a finalist for Best Resort in the International Design Excellence Awards for its groundbreaking resort project, W Hotels Punta de Mita.
In the 6 Months Jonathan has been with Mister Important, he has become a protege to Charles, acting as Lead 3d Artist, Assistant Designer, and FF&E Manager. With what is sure to be a bright future in the Design industry, Jonathan is definitely a young talent that is worth keeping an eye on.
